For over one hundred years the Pinton mill has been weaving rugs and tapestries. It is a privately owned company, established at Felletin nearby Aubusson. Since then, the business has remained family owned for over three generations.
From the 50's until the end of 1980, Ateliers Pinton have produced numerous tapestries designed by famous artists such as Avery, Bazaine, Brianchon, Calder, S. Delaunay, Le Corbusier, Fumeron, Léger, Matégot, Miro, Motherwell, Bram van Velde, Zadkine, a.o.
De weverij van Pinton werd ruim honderd jaar geleden gesticht en weeft nog altijd tapijten.
Tussen 1950 en 1980 gaf Pinton veel kunstenaars opdracht tot het ontwerpen van tapijten. De meeste kunstenaars werden uitgenodigd om ter plaatse de cartons te tekenen en aanwijzignen te geven bij de uitvoering. De grootste kunstenaars-ontwerpers van die tijd hebben voor Pinton ontwerpen gemaakt: Avery, Bazaine, Brianchon, Calder, S. Delaunay, Le Corbusier, Fumeron, Léger, Matégot, Miro, Motherwell, Bram van Velde, Zadkine en vele anderen.
